Each year, trainees get to know various areas and departments of Apleona Schweiz AG as part of their apprenticeship. We help them take their first steps in the world of work and we assist with their personal development. But they often have few ways of interacting with each other or building up a network.
That’s why, this year, we got them to organise a unique Trainee Event themselves. Anyone training with Apleona in German-speaking Switzerland was allowed to volunteer for the organising team. Lucas, Gian, Vanessa, Ylli and Noelia formed a five-person team who independently organised every aspect of the event on 23 November 2023. Andrea Fehr was there to help and advise them.
At the event itself, twelve trainees from German-speaking Switzerland got together and were accompanied throughout the day by Andrea Fehr (Talent Acquisition & Development), Vedat Celik (HR Recruiter) and Jessica Georgechandrakumar (Assistant Seminar Manager and former KV trainee).
Indoor tournaments to build team spirit
The trainees met in the morning at Zurich station and travelled together to the sports centre in Uster, where Lucas and Vanessa were already busy preparing everything for the upcoming event.
Trainees were divided into three groups to compete in two very different sports. Things began with a volleyball tournament, in which the teams competed with enthusiasm and commitment. There were some exciting matches that not only showcased people’s abilities, but also encouraged team spirit. At the subsequent football tournament, the trainees’ enthusiasm and competitiveness produced a rousing atmosphere in the sports hall. Congratulations to the Green Team on their win! :-)
Lunch to round off
The day ended happily over a lunch of pizza and pasta. There was plenty of time left for the trainees to talk together about their experiences and impressions, and to network.
This sporting gathering won’t be forgotten quickly. It strengthened not only attendees’ sporting capabilities, but also their cohesion as a group. Next year’s event will again be organised by the trainees themselves, with the support of Andrea Fehr.
