Digital transformation: what's behind it?

Since 01 March 2022, Laura Rangognini has been building the new «digital transformation» department at Apleona Switzerland Ltd. Previously, she was Regional Manager for Western Switzerland. As contact person for projects, strategic questions and concerns on the topic of digitalisation and transformation, she is responsible for the ongoing implementation of digital solutions for both divisions.

What is part of her daily tasks and what measures she is currently planning or already implementing, you can find out in the interview.

What exactly does the «digital transformation» department comprise?
Transformation means change. Thus, we address the change that occurs when we bring technology and digitalisation together with our employees, customers and processes. Let's take MS Teams or our customer portals as an example. These applications have changed the way we work together and given us new ways to better structure ourselves and our work.

But we cannot change everything at the same time. This means that it is my job to understand the interrelationships and dependencies of projects so that resources can be used in a targeted manner and in the interests of Apleona Switzerland Ltd.

What are your main tasks at Apleona Switzerland and what challenges does your new job bring with it?
My main tasks include project portfolio management, i.e. above all the prioritisation and overarching coordination of digitisation projects. I am the first point of contact for our employees' needs for digital solutions and provide support in cross-departmental process analysis and optimisation. In summary, I see myself as a link between IT, the specialist departments and the operational units.

Which internal and external partners do you work with?
I mainly work with the project managers of the individual projects. I also exchange a lot with my colleagues from the IT and Digital Solutions department, but also with the project managers from the Center of Competence team. The cooperation with the specialists of the Apleona Group in Germany is also very important to me and is fun.

What specific projects are you currently working on?
Internally, the focus is currently on digital HR projects, such as time recording or the entry and exit process. In the Real Estate sector, we are busy replacing the core systems REM and Basware. These examples show how deeply we intervene in our current processes.

For our customers, we work on the continuous further development of our FM portal. We recently launched the matching Workplaces app. With this app, we make, for example, the history of all our actions on a technical system accessible to the customer.

What goals will be pursued in the next few years and what milestones will be targeted?
We will continue to work on the implementation of our digitalisation strategy next year. This means implementing projects internally that bring us efficiency, for example through standardisation and automation. For our customers, we will work on expanding our digital customer solutions. In both areas, the topic of data will be very present – i.e. what data do we collect, how do we evaluate it and what added value do we generate from it for ourselves and our customers.
